WITNESSES REACTION TO FACING DEATH......
by Mary ini went to see someone in my old hall last night, who's recently been diagnosed with cancer.
she's only in her late 40s, healthy, so this was a shock when i found out about it the other night.
apparently it's gone in to her liver and her doctor has not given her any hope of surviving it, although they're going for a second opinion, as the doctors in our area are notoriously incompetent.. even though i stopped going to the meeting 2 years ago, i thought going to see her was the human thing to do, since she studied with me when i was 15 years old and i thought it would maybe be comforting for her to talk to someone else who had had cancer.

I remember a while ago talking to my grandmother who's been a JW since the late 70's and who now is in her 70's herself, and she was just getting to the point in her life where she realised that she just might not live forever. When that hits someone especially later in life, it's quite a blow to them.
I think this is what is going on in my wife's family. My wife's sister has cancer, her mother is in her 80's. This wasn't supposed to happen to them. To me they all seem beaten down by contrast between the Watchtower's teachings and the reality of their lives.

In my experience I have found the biggest concern of witness whether at a funeral or in the hospital with someone who is very sick is putting on a good show (a good witness). The ultimate goal is to use the occassion to suck someone else into their warped religion. Just part of the brainwashing effect. They don't even realize how strange it looks to those of us outside their religion that know what is going on.
By the way I hope you are doing ok Mary.

My 2 Year Anniversary on JWD.
by AK - Jeff inwhat a ride it has been!.
i was [and had been for a full year] sure that leaving the jw's was the right thing to do, before i showed up here.
still, the journey was just underway then, and this forum has been a wonderful aid in that journey.. i remember the first few weeks, when i discovered that some of the posters here [mouthy, jst2laws and his wife (joysabelle i think)] had aided me earlier thru emails in the first of my earliest contacts, before i knew of jwd.

Maybe someday someone will be aided by my presence here
Your posts help more people than you will ever know. Not everyone who is aided by what they read has the time or the desire to reply to everything that is useful to them. I enjoy reading your posts. Keep up the good work.

Canadian Federal Government Class Action (Retired armed forces)
by MsMcDucket ini don't know if this is old news are not.
if so, never mind!canadian federal governmenta class action lawsuit has been filed against the canadian federal government on behalf of retired armed forces members who were exposed to chemical and biological warfare experiments during their time on canadian forces bases.
the nationwide class action lawsuit was filed at the federal court in ottawa and names the attorney general of canada and the minister of national defence as defendants.

Link, 85, says his life hasn't been the same since he was used in chemical warfare experiments in 1942.
Sounds like a class action scam to me. The guy mentioned above is 85. If this horrible thing really happend how come this guy is still around at that age. Most of these class action cases seem to include just about anything that can go wrong with a persons health. That way they can find something you have that they can blame on whoever it is they are suing.

What is this Pick on the Wanderer Day?
I kinda like the way he presents his questions. It is something a little different.

Over the years I have spoke with several of them. I really don't understand them. They know all the false teachings of the Watchtower yet they go on defending it. I remember one I used to speak with years ago in the AOL chatrooms. One time I got so mad at his arrogance I told him he deserved to be a Jehovah's Witness. He said something like: "You don't really mean that". It almost seemed like he was hurt when said that to him. Maybe deep inside he knew there was something wrong remaining in the WT. Another one I used to speak with got so frustrated he resorted to telling me and others to go "F" ourselves. Not just once but constantly. I told him he need a break from the the discussion board as we all do at times (it could get pretty heated in there). He told me to go "F myself again. I felt bad for him but couldn't convince him I really was concerned about him. I think overall he was a nice guy. I hope he is out now. I don't know why they can't see the problem telling us that we should be following the WT when there presence on the internet shows they don't listen to them either.

I don't think that's true! I remember having a recent coversation with someone about that very subject, i.e. killing a stray sheep and taking it home to feed the family for a month! Can't remember who I was in discussion with, but apparently it's an offence to take the animal home. It has to be reported.
I know in open range areas like you find in Northern Nevada if you hit a cow you have to pay the rancher for it.
